Three Legged Max

ShiBOO!

Yesterday Mom took me to the Shiba Inu Rescue Association's "Shiboo Howloween Bash."  It was soooooooooo much fun!  Mom says that I am half Shiba Inu and that's why we went.  I got to hang out with all these other dogs.  Mostly they were Shiba Inu, but there was also a Shiba Lab and a Jindo.  Oh, and there was this other three legged dog, too!  This one was missing a back leg, but had also been hit by a car.  We took to each other immediately.  Mom says it was cute. 

I think some people got annoyed because I was barking so much (the other Shibas don't seem to like to bark like I do), but I was just trying to get my point across.  For a while I was guarding this Shiba who I think was named Kirby.  He was really shy and when other dogs would come over, he would get scared.  So, I laid down in front of where he was hiding and barked and chased off the other dogs who came near.  I think his people liked it.  I was also referred to as the "sheriff in town" because when the other dogs would get running around and maybe take it a little too far, I'd chase 'em down and bark and break it up.  I got along with everyone except one dog who didn't seem to care for me.  Mom said she was very impressed.

Once we got home, I passed out on the living room floor for about and hour before going into Mom's room and sleeping in my crate.  I didn't budge until around 9am this morning!  Mom says she was shocked I didn't ask to go potty from the time we got home yesterday afternoon til this morning. 

Oh, and also there was a costume contest.  I went as a "tripod" again.  They did the first category of costumes, "groups" and after that there were only three of us left for the rest of the categories, so we each just got a prize.  I got this "Crinkle Critter."  It's this fabric covering thing with an empty water bottle inside.  Mom though I'd like it, but I'm actually scared of the loud noises the bottle makes, so I had her take the bottle out.  Now, I love it!

Mom also had made some items for the silent auction and raffle.  Here are some pictures of them!

I LOVE Barney!

After reading about Jerry G. Dawg's LOVE of Barney, Mom was inspired to send in my photo with Barney, but there were no Barneys to be found!  I guess Barney is out these days, but luckily, Mom's step-mom, Yvonne, had a Barney laying around (most likely from when Katie was a baby), and she sent it all the way to Illinois for me!  Jerry's people even posted my pictures in the Blog of Killbarney!  Mom took some more photos of us today, so here they are!  Thanks for the Barney, Grandma Yo!

Hi all.  Hoppy 12 of 12!  I got stuck at home most of the day, but Mom did play with me some once she got home.  Lucy and Riley are home tonight, so they've been bugging me.  Riley keeps trying push my buttons, but I just put him in his place.

9:14am--Check out amputee, Andre, and his cool legs!  Mom didn't make them, but she saw him in People and thought he was quite the pup.

12:35pm--Somebody refilled the candy machine Grammy sent Mom two years ago.

1:22PM--Mom's birthday cards.

6:21PM--Woot, woot!  Hanging out at home!

6:22PM--Today I'm tugging my most favoritest snowman toy, which I won at last year's costume contest.

6:23PM--This is how close Mom came to taking a picture of her first ever bloody nose and sharing it with you.

6:45PM--Check out Mom's sewing machine. 

6:46PM--And her pin cushion.

7:00PM--Don't you think Mom should buy some lightbulbs?  BEFORE the last one burns out?

Mom's Been Sewing

So, Mom recently started sewing.  Check out the coats she made for Riley and Lucy.

Now, what I REALLY REALLY want to know is. . . WHERE IS MINE?????????????

 

 

Notice how I'm not wearing my collar in these pictures?  Mom said I was naughty.  I was on the tie-out and I took off running after a squirrel.  When I got to the end of my rope, I kept going and my collar stayed behind.  Mom had to chase me all around the neighborhood again.  I gave up after a few blocks and let her catch me, but then I made her carry me home. . . remember, my collar was back in the yard.  Haha.  You should have seen her.  I'm no puppy.  Mom says I'm heavy.  She is just glad I didn't run toward the busy road.  She knows that if I just stay out of traffic and she is able to keep an eye on where I go, she'll be able to catch me eventually because I get tired pretty quickly.  She's just got to be able to keep up.

 

 

Mom says she's going to make me one, too, but she wants to do some other stuff first so mine comes out to be perfect!  Check out this vest she also made.  She made it is for her co-worker.

It's that time again!  Time for this month's 12 of 12.  Mom didn't do a whole heck of a lot today.  She and I just hung around at home for the most part.  Here are our pictures.

12:01am--Mom!  It's the middle of the night!  Why are you taking pictures at this hour?  (I do love my new bed)

  

3:02am--I woke Mom up and made her think I had to go potty.  I really  just wanted to go outside in the nice somewhat cool air!

 

11:16am--Mom has been helping her friend, Cory, look for a tripawd of his own (he's also a prosthetist).  She's been looking on PetFinder, which is where she found me two years ago.  She also checked out some local three legged dogs in need.  Here is one of them.  His name is Vince and he needs a home.  He's a few hours south of here.  Don't you want to adopt him?

   

11:17am--This little tripawd is Blaze and he's missing a back leg.  He also needs a forever home.  If you're interested, Mom can give you his info.

 

11:18am--Mom knew she wouldn't be taking a lot of other pictures today, so she wanted to show just one more dog.  This poor gal isn't a tripawd--she has all four legs, but she's 14 years old!  She really deserves a home for the rest of her life.  She looks soooo sweet.

 

11:45am--Mom's taking a sewing class. They're making a fleece vest.  She said she probably should have chosen a brown fleece to match me since I shed on everything, but she chose this blue.  They're supposed to finish it next week.

 

11:58am--I LOVE TO TUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I always win!

 

3:29pm--This is the fabric Mom's using to make a skirt.  She already made a corduroy skirt about a week ago.  Now she's going for a slightly longer one with this great wool blend.  I think it's very pretty.  She just better not try to put it on me!

 

4:45pm--Just hanging around outside.  This is my favorite tree to pee on.

 

4:46pm--I'm just looking for trouble!

 

5:49pm--Mom had to go out for a bit.  Her bike is in my spot in the car!  Where is my crate!?!  And why am I not going with her?

 

8:30pm--Just me trying to catch up on the blog.  Gotta log in first. 

Guess Who Brought Home the Beggin' Strips!

Mom and I went to the Homewood Dog Days of Summer Pooch Parade and Costume Contest again this year.  I was in the contest dressed as a TRICYCLE!!!  And this year I WON again!  I won the prize for "Most Unique Costume" for the awesome costume my  mom made.  Mom says that if I want to go next year, though, I have to learn to behave a little better.  I was barking at all the other dogs and trying to pick fights.  She said I was naughty.  I was just saying "hi."  See my pictures below of my costume and prize.

Hi everyone!  It's that time again.  Time for this month's 12 of 12

1:01am--Mom insisted we get up and try to see the meteor shower.  She went out.  I stayed in her bed and kept it warm.  She didn't see any meteors :(  it was too cloudy.  She's going to try again tonight. 

7:58am--Mom had to get out the Atlas.  Her friend, who is a prosthetist in Maine, needed some info on fitting one of those baby humans with a leg.  She hopes she was helpful!

 

11:00am--Krispy Kreme!  This is what Mom refers to as a "Scanning Doughnut."  Her co-worker asks her to scan plaster baby head for cranial remolding helmets in exchange for Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  Mmm.

 

1:15pm--This is Mom's new phone.  She said she thought it was going to be hard to change from a flip phone to a "candy bar" phone, but I think she's got the hang of things.  Oh, look!  There's also a purchase order in the background! 

 

3:00pm--The word of the day!  Mom and Amanda got Jeff this deck of slang flash cards for his birthday and every day (or so) he pulls one out.  They are soooo funny!

 

4:57pm--Mom's almost off work!  She just finished shaping this piece of foam to look like a seat for my tricycle costume.  It needs a little fine tuning, but I think it's pretty good.  The costume contest is this Saturday.

 

5:12pm--Mom's home!  And I get to pee!  Doesn't everyone have a Welcome mat out in the middle of the yard?  Yeah, I know, I have a shedding problem.

 

6:00pm--I want some attention!

 

6:02pm--This frog? toy has seen better days!  Let's tug!

 

6:45pm--Mom went to get some dinner from Ariston.  Yum!  I did manage to get a piece of it, too!  She didn't just hand it to me, though.  It fell off her plate, but I didn't let it hit the ground!

 

7:something--Look!  It's Rory dog!  No, I've never met him, but Mom's watching him on America's Got Talent.  He's pretty good.  I wish I could catch frisbees like that!  Well, actually, I probably could if I wanted too, but I'm not so sure if Mom could handle it.

 

7:30pm--I told Mom to stop bugging me with that camera!  I got up as soon as I heard it.   But check out my new bed!  Mom made it for me over the weekend.  It's old t-shirts and jeans.  The back side is jeans.  You can see part of it in the first picture of the day.

From Tripawd to Tricycle

Hi all.  Mom has been working on this year’s costume for the Dog Days Pooch Parade and Costume Contest!  I hate it!  She won’t leave me alone today, but at least I do get treats every time I try it on.  Here’s a picture of the costume so far.  There are handlebars, too, but Mom has to finish them, and finish the seat, and make some final touches.  She even picked up a horn and said she’s going to attach that somehow.  Oh, how annoying!  She did let me chew on the horn for a while.  She thinks I’ll get used to it, but I know better.

Yay!  It's 12 of 12 again and it's Sunday.  Mom got to spend most of the day with me! 

9:04am--Out for my  morning pee.  And enjoying the sunshine, of course!

 

11:15am--Mom went to get some lunch from Culver's.  I didn't get any :(

 

11:19am--Mom caught this picture at a red light.  Apparently, that care is finomnl. 

 

12:40pm--I didn't want to pose.  Stop it, Mom!

 

12:41pm--Me and Mom!!!  Aren't we cure?  I still didn't want my picture taken.

 

1:15pm--Mom finally hunted me down.  She snuck up on me and took  the photo. 

 

5:25pm--Did mom get her hair cut short???  Nah, you just can't see it in the ponytail.  Don't worry, Grandma!

 

6pm--I need a nap!

 

6:30pm--Mom was looking through some of her old photos.  Here are a few of them.  Top left is Mom and Little Grandma.  Top right is Mom, Grandpa, and Ashley (and Buddy).  Bottom are both just Mom.  She says she could have been Harry Potter in that left one!

 

6:50pm--Mom volunteered at the Tour de Fat yesterday and got this shirt for her services.

 

8:05pm--Mom met up with Amanda at the local village festival.  Amanda's daughter, Sadie, got her face painted like a Cheetah.  Isn't she cute?

 

8:30pm--Sadie found a new friend while going down the slide!

Hi everyone!  Sorry for posting this a couple of days late, but Mom had a friend over this weekend and she was too busy let me log on to post the pics!  On another note, yesterday I managed to snap my tie-out.  Yep.  A 30 pound, 3 legged dog snapped a tie-out rated for a 50 pound dog.  And it wasn't even that old!  Mom had to chase me around the neighbors' houses, but I finally let her catch up with me. 

7:15am--Just sniffin' around for a place to pee.  Hmm. . . this may be a good spot.

 

7:17am--Or maybe here.

 

10:40am--Mom is glad that her silicone and knee joint bars came in at work.  I'm not exactly sure what they're for, but she says her patients need them.

 

1:00pm--A pipe cutter!  Yeah, not really that exciting, is it? 

 

5:10pm--Oh, Riley, you are so funny.  I get jealous when Mom pets him.

 

5:11pm--So I made her take a picture of me, too.

 

5:20pm--Riley and Lucy are making out!

 

6:00pm--More of me just hanging out.  I love to chill.

 

6:30pm--Did I mention Mom's friend?  This is her.  Her name is Loi and she and Mom went to the Zombie March yesterday in Chicago.  I may post a picture of that later.

 

9:45pm--So, of course, I had to have a picture with Mom, too!

 

9:50pm--And then Lucy wanted to have her picture taken, too!  There must have been something tasty on her nose.  I didn't get to taste it :(

 

10:10pm--And one more picture with Loi.  She left this morning.
